我希望餵食平台（Feeding Post）後方遠處的煙，不是那邊樹林起火。

I hope the smoke in the distance behind the Feeding Post isn't a fire in the trees over there.

褐林鴞（Tawny）的領域大小約 30 到 50 公頃（hectares），偏好闊葉林（broadleaf woodland），不過也正在適應公園地（parkland）等環境。平均壽命 4 年。資訊來自英國 Barn Owl Trust UK。

Tawny territory size 30 to 50 Hectares, broadleaf woodland preferred,though they are adapting to parkland etc. Average lifespan 4 years. Info from Barn Owl Trust UK

那些寒鴉（jackdaws）正在整理山毛櫸（beech）那邊。

現在超安靜，我都沒聽到褐林鴞（tawnies）的叫聲，應該快來了。

It is super quiet I don't hear calls from the tawnies it should be soon

褐林鴞（Tawnies）似乎比較喜歡在非繁殖季節棲息（roost）在樹上。我們就比較少看到牠們。很明顯牠們還是會來覓食站（feeding stations）。

Tawnies seem to prefer to roost in the trees outside breeding season. We don't see them so much .Obviously they come to the feeding stations.

年輕的褐林鴞（Tawnys）會被親鳥趕走，去尋找自己的領域。穀倉貓頭鷹（barn owls）沒那麼強烈地守領域，但年輕個體（young iwls）也會離散（disperse）。

The young Tawnys will be chased off by their parents to seek their own territories. Barn owls are not so badly territorial but young iwls will disperse too.

我每天晚上都在想這件事，Kathleen。

hi Helga! I totally agree with your thought re needing a more diverse gene pool. Yes the rescue female does seem the upcoming female don. :)

我有點失望，大家都沒有回應我那則關於 Fotherdale 需要更大的基因庫（gene pool）的留言；有這隻好鬥的雌性救援鳥（feisty female rescue）在，REF 的夢想就得靠新血（new blood）了。

I’m disappointed none of you have responded to my comment about having a greater gene pool in Fotherdale, with the feisty female rescue around. REFs dream relies on new blood.

我懷疑 Luna 現在還會餵食任何幼鳥（feeding）。就算是最年幼的寄養雛鳥（foster）也一樣。

I doubt Luna would be feeding any now. Even the youngest foster.

她可能在另一棵樹上吃東西。

也許 Luna 是個很棒的媽媽。

她剛剛只帶走了一塊地板獵物（DOC）離開；也許還在餵 Magellean？還是現在已經不可能了，因為過太久了。

She just took a DOC to go, still feeding Magellean maybe? or hard no now, too much time has passed

她體色較淺（light），飛羽（flight feathers）也比較長，而且比大多數褐林鴞（tawnies）都大。

而且她像高手一樣（like a pro）應付了那一下揮擊（swipe）。

我知道這樣說很殘酷（awful），但我們親愛的 Gylfie 不會永遠活著，所以能看到沒有家族關聯的雌性穀倉貓頭鷹（female barn owls）進來是好事。

I know it’s awful to say this, but our dear Gylfie won’t live forever, so it’s good to see female barn owls with no family connection coming in.

天啊！37°C 的熱浪（heatwave）時候冷氣（AC）壞掉，真的只能說很不理想 😬 我很慶幸英國（UK）這幾週涼爽多了。
