我認為這個地區的田鼠（vole）數量很可能正處於自然低點（natural low）。眾所周知牠們的數量是週期性的（cyclical），通常會在 2 到 4 年間上升，然後暴跌。

I do think it's likely that the vole population in the area is just at a natural low. It's known to be cyclical, typically rising over 2-4 years and then crashing

當我們從宏觀層面（macro level）談論時，大家都懂大自然怎麼運作；但對於一隻在我們花園裡築巢的個體鳥（individual bird）來說，我們還是會想幫牠。😊

When we speak at macro level we all understand how nature works, but for an individual bird nesting in our garden we want to help them. 😊

I feel sad for Celeste, as she’s obviously been out hunting but with no success, and no support from Orion 😢wherever he may be.

我不是想當烏鴉嘴（prophet of doom），也真心希望 B1 一切都好。

I’m not wishing to be a prophet of doom, and sincerely hope B1 does well.

尤其是 B1 現在知道 DOCs 是食物了。如果牠找到 FD 的餵食枝條（feeding branch），生存機會就很大。

Especially since B1 now knows that DOCs are food. If it finds the FD feeding branch it's got a good shot at survival.

不過 B1 是隻很強壯的小雛鴞（owlet）。綜合來看，這顆小毛球（fuzzball）還是有不錯的拚搏機會（fighting chance）。

B1 is a pretty strong little owlet though. The little fuzzball will have a good fighting chance, all things considered.

大自然有它自己的週期（cycle），我們其實無法有效干預。或許我們也不該干預。

There is a cycle to nature which we can’t effectively interfere with. Nor perhaps should we.

我也遇過同樣的問題，當時有隻兔子在我院子中央築巢。我在小兔子離開前都拒絕割草。之後就沒什麼可做了。

I faced the same problem when a rabbit made its nest in the center of my yard. Refused to mow until the babies left. After that there's nothing left to be done.

團隊能做的最好事情，就是幫 B1 活到成鳥（adulthood），讓牠有和其他鳥一樣的機會。

The best the team can do is help B1 make it to adulthood and let ihm have the same chance as all the other birds.
